We hear it from our teachers and our parents, but until something big happens, most teenagers don't see a reason to make a change. Cyber bullying is a growing issue with no end in sight. Because the Internet takes away face to face interaction, it is easier for a bully to say things that they could never say in person. Sometimes, these comments even come in the form of anonymous threats. The issue did not become real for a lot of people though, until whisperings of teen suicides began to be heard. Megan Meir, Phoebe Prince, and Ciara Pugsley are only a few of the recent suicide victims related to online or cyber bullying.
What can I do to help?
- Refrain from posting mean things on the internet.
- Stick up for people who are being threatened. Be strong, but do not fight.
- Be a friend to whoever you can.
- Report any innapropriate or harmful content posted.
